Ingredient #1: Acai Fruit Berry
Acai, known as “The Brazilian Beauty Berry,” is a tiny 1-inch fruit that grows on acai palm trees in the rainforests of Central and South America. You can identify the acai by the color of its dark purple flesh and yellow interior. Because the acai contains pits like apricots or olives, they are technically a fruit and not a berry. Yet, we commonly refer to them as berries.
This acai fruit provides many benefits for the skin thanks to its many vitamins, minerals and nutrients such as calcium, magnesium, zinc and copper which are important for skin health. All of these ingredients work together to protect the skin from environmental pollutants and other harmful substances that create free radicals. Even more, all of the fatty acids are considered to be the building blocks for collagen, the connective tissue that helps keep the skin firm and tight.
Oil extracted from the acai berry and used in our Glow Body Oil is rich in fatty acids and antioxidants. In fact, the oil is made of more than 50% oleic acid (omega 9), which makes it a fantastic source of hydration which produces moisturizing and rejuvenating properties.
Ingredient #2: Buriti Oil (also referred to as oil)
Buriti oil is extracted from Mauritia Flexuosa, a tall palm tree. The fruits of this tree are clustered at the top of the stem and protected by a shell that looks like a dragon egg.
When the fruits are extracted, an oil is produced which has several beneficial ingredients that can have a powerful effect on your skin. These ingredients include antioxidant beta-carotene, essential fatty acids, vitamin E and vitamin C. We use buriti oil in our Glow Body Oil, to help protect your skin from damage from UV rays and free radicals.
