5 Tips For Making Dry Brushing a Quick & Easy Daily Habit

Creating a new habit can be challenging, sometimes it can be hard to remember, even if it's a habit that can easily fit into your daily routine.

Think about the habit of drinking water. Drinking more water throughout your day takes time as you have to pause, fix a glass of water, take a drink and then repeat several times during the day. It’s a task that has health and wellness benefits but may be difficult to turn into a routine habit.

I received an interesting email from a customer that made me think about forming habits. In her email, she shared that she loved dry brushing, but was struggling to make it a part of her daily routine. It made me think others may also have this struggle, so I created a list of tips to help you remember to dry brush daily.

Here are my 5 tips for making dry brushing a quick and easy daily habit:

 1. Dry brush before or after you brush your teeth

Think of dry brushing like another daily hygiene habit and it might help you remember this task. I recommend dry brushing before or after you brush your teeth, whichever is easiest for you. This will connect the routine of dry brushing to another daily task, and as a result, it will make it much easier to turn it into a daily habit.

 2. Dry brush after exercising and before you take a shower

If you’re someone who regularly exercises, you can easily make it a habit to dry brush after your workout. I recommend dry brushing after your workout before you take a shower. This will help you turn it into a regular habit that is easy to add to your daily routine.

 3. Dry brush with your morning beverage

One of my favorite times to dry brush is in the morning. I will often take a beverage with me to the bathing area, such as a cup of coffee, a cup of tea, or a cup of hot water with lemon and honey. I always enjoy taking a few sips of my beverage and then dry brushing in-between. Take a few sips, dry brush, take a few more sips, dry brush and then bathe. This is a great way to start the day.

 4. Dry brush with a glass of wine in the evening

If you prefer dry brushing in the evening, this tip may be helpful for you. I recommend ending your day by taking an evening beverage with you to your bathing area, such as a glass of red wine, a glass of water, or a cup of hot water with lemon and honey. It’s a similar routine to dry brushing with a morning beverage, as I mentioned previously. Following the same pattern. Take a few sips of your beverage, dry brush, take a few more sips, dry brush and then bathe.

5.  Dry brush while playing music

Music can make this habit energizing. During this 3-5 minute moment of self-care in the morning, take time to listen to music while dry brushing and think about the day ahead. Likewise, you can dry brush in the evening while listening to music and reflect upon your day.

It is worth the time and effort to make dry brushing a habit that easily fits into your daily routine, as dry brushing is a great way to exfoliate your skin naturally. As a result, your skin will look and feel better.

  • I have been a Type 1 diabetic for over 55 years. I have extremely dry skin and wondered if this process would be as beneficial as I believe it would??
